Our Executive Director:
David is the Director of Choirs at Northwest High School in Grand Island, Nebraska where he conducts seven choirs with more than 300 students. He also teaches Musical Theater Coaching, Drama, and oversees the private voice studios of more than 100 students with five voice teachers. Under his direction the Northwest Concert Choirs have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City (2000, 2005, 2010), Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco (2004) ,The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C (2007), and for the Nebraska Music Educators Fall Convention (2003, 2007) Northwest show choirs have won several Grand Champion show choir awards and have been selected to the finals at every competition in which they have competed.
In 2000, Mr. Sackschewsky was selected as the Outstanding Young Choral Director of the Year (NCDA). In 2002, he was awarded the Outstanding Young Music Educator of the Year by the Nebraska Music Educators Association. In 2010, he was chosen as the Outstanding Music Educator of the Year (guess, no longer "young") and Outstanding Choral Director of the Year, 2010 (again, no longer young). In 2004, he was chosen and filmed as a model teacher for the production of the Educator's Virtual Mentor, used across the nation for an internet based teaching website. He is also the co-author of "The Music Teacher's First Aid Kit". He is married to Julie, a middle school choral director and father of 3 year old twin girls (God does have a sense of humor), and 6 year old son, who is in time-out.
